International Students at Lima Christian School have a unique opportunity to learn about American homes and culture by living with a carefully selected family for the school year.

Using the information provided by the host family applicants, the student’s Homestay Information Form and other information provided by the student and his/her family, students are placed in an American home. Every effort is made using this information to make the best homestay placement for both the student and host family.

Advantages to a Homestay Program:
  • Live in an American home and be part of an American family for the school year
  • Experience American culture and foods
  • Plenty of opportunity to practice English
  • Share in American family activities, events, holidays, and special times
What is provided in the Homestay?
  • Your own bedroom with study area
  • All of your regular meals and snacks that the family enjoys
  • Transportation to and from school and extracurricular activities (Note: some transportation to and from school may be provided by public school busses)
What is not provided in the Homestay?
  • Travel to and from your home country
  • Long distance phone calls
  • Clothing, school supplies, personal items or medicines
What are the International student / family responsibilities?
  • Family will pay a host family compensation fee to LCS for distribution to the host family. (See Tuition and Fees)
  • Student must abide by both the host home “house” rules as well as any LCS rules for International Students.

  • Bring a good attitude
  • A willingness to share with your host family and school about your home country and culture
  • Pack for our weather and school dress code. The Check List will help you remember what to bring.
